Hi Reader,

How are you today?

How was Thanksgiving if you celebrated?

How is the winter treating you?

Let me take this opportunity to remind you to fill the survey.

We already drew the first winner of $250 (congrats Giulia!), but we still have 3 more winners of $250 USD cash. Participating will also really help us put together a representative "State of the solo female travel" experience ๐Ÿ™

As a side note, our guests on the Xmas markets tour are having the most magical time. It literally started to snow the day before the tour started in Zurich, just like last year, and they are now in Austria and the road is a winter wonderland with all the trees covered in powder snow... ๐Ÿคฉ

This photo is from their drive this morning from Salzburg to Hallstatt โ„๏ธ

Both our Xmas markets tour this year sold out a while ago, but we are returning again next year with a week filled with the magic of Xmas, lots of gluwein, snow-capped mountains and twinkling lights. See tour details here.

Seat Guru is gone, what next?

If you ever had to figure out what is the best seat to pick in a specific plane and flight, you must have stumbled upon Seat Guru.

This website was a treasure trove of information on seat plans, the best seats to pick, the downsides to consider on some planes and seat locations, it even had personal reviews of passengers. It was AMAZING.

And then TripAdvisor bought it and let is die, literally...

They have done the same with other companies, as have other companies in many industries (buying a small amazing company and then letting it die).

After years of neglect and lack of updates, TripAdvisor finally took the page down.

What are the alternatives:

  • โ€‹Seat Maps: Started by two frequent flyers and it even has 360 maps and airline reviews. The information is not far from what Seat Guru offered so this is the best alternative IMO.
  • โ€‹AeroLOPA: It has updated seat maps, but not traveler feedback, so it's nowhere as good, but it's at least up to date. It is also much simpler than Seat Maps as it has less information.

Both of these are pretty good, but it makes me sad to see such amazing (and free) resources as Seat Guru disappear because of corporate greed, sigh...

Let me know if you use the above and what you think and, don't forget to fill the survey!
